On 2 June 2001 the Sluknov region was declared "Tolstejn
Dominion" by the majority of mayors of the
region. The ceremony took place on the court of the Tolstejn
castle ruins. Each of the mayors, dressed in period costumes,
gave a vow to do obeisance to the lord of the dominion who, in
the 2nd half of the 15th century, was Albrecht Berka of Duba.
Then, "burggraves and reeves" were handed over decrees
testifying the promotion of the region to the
status of the Tolstejn dominion.
VFollowing the declaration and vow, more than one thousand
onlookers enjoyed historic duels of knights and historic and
country music performances.
The happening ended in the declaration of a new play called
"Wandering around Tolstejn
Dominion". Hopefully, this is the beginning of
a new tradition of "Tolstejn festivities". Starting
from the coming year these will take place during the year in
most of the towns and villages of "Tolstejn
Dominion" on a regular basis. The festivities will
include fairs, festivals and various social and cultural
events.
The play "Wandering around Tolstejn Dominion"
will be organized every year and will take place from June
till the end of May of the following year.
