Horní Podluží

The community was founded in 1411 during a period of the colonization of the Luznicka brook area. At that time, near the place where now St. Catherine church stands, there was a small wooden chapel with a parish comprising a few villages in the neighbouring area. The colonies of Svetlik, Ladecka and Zofin were affiliated in 1885. The population was mainly engaged in farming, flax processing and later cotton processing. A boom of textile industry occured in the second half of the 18th century.

In Horni Podluzi there is a considerable quantity of sacral monuments. The baroque statue of Calvary from 1757 presents the crucified Jesus and Mary of Magdala kneeling in from of him.

Before the World War II, Zvonicka (Small Bell Tower) was in use twice a day. At noon the bells anounced dinner time and in the evening they signaled the workers to return home from work. After the war the bell tower was used as a death bell and since the 70s it is no longer in use.

A well-conserver plastic of Johannes Nepomucensis on the way to the Great Lake.

A swimming pool near Slavia hotel in the center of the community is now in public use.

The Great Lake shore is conveniently displayed to sunshine and is an important ornithological location and a nature reserve at the same time. The lake is a favourite place with fishermen.
