Dolní Podluží

Since the 13th century several independent parts of the Tolstejn property along the Luzicka brook was gradually being joined together to form a municipality. In the course of centuries local inhabitants earned their living as farmers, later as weavers, glassmakers and ore-miners. The last year of the Austrian monarchy and the years between the two World Wars were a period of boom of the municipality.

The situation of the municipality on woody slopes of Lusatia Mountains and the near border crossing for pedestrias and bikers to the German village of Waltersdorf makes the place an ideal starting point of tourist routes on the Czech as well as on the German territory.

The today's appearance of St. Catherine Church from 1547 (reconstructed in 18th century) dates back to 1882. The original cemetry on the northern side of the church was cancelled at the end of the 18th century.
